It is a specific type of exercise that belongs to category of aerobic exercises, the main idea is to ensure an adequate supply of oxygen to the body in order to burn calories. Exercising ensures practicing of all muscle groups, strengthening problem areas and strengthening muscles. Doesn't use the heavy weights, but only your own body weight or simple tools (rubber fitness, skipping ropes, over-balls, fitness bars).
